Over 40-voice choir, chamber orchestra, conductor Chris Crook, soloist Jodi Wright, and readers lead us through 90 minutes of scripture, anthems and the singing of favorite carols. Bradley Reznicek will be at our new Casavant pipe organ. From Handel’s “And the Glory of the Lord” to a thrilling four-hand piano duet to a candle-lit singing of “Silent Night”, this concert will fill your soul with the joy of Christmas.
Cookies and light refreshments will follow the music program.
The American Guild of Organists (AGO) is providing Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Dallas, with a wonderful opportunity to showcase our new Casavant organ. Sponsored by the AGO as part of its Robert T. Anderson Recital Series, organist Aaron Tan will be putting Dallas’s newest pipe organ through its paces! The recital will take place on Thursday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. and finish at approximately 8:45 p.m., followed by light refreshments.
Winner of the 2018 American Guild of Organists National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, Aaron Tan has won numerous noteworthy contests and scholarships on both organ and piano. Currently studying at the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University, Aaron also serves as Organ Scholar at Church of the Resurrection, New York City.
On June 1, a group of area singers from Dallas including members of Third Church and our organist – Chris Crook will perform the first half of a concert in London’s prestigious Cadogan Hall.
Before they depart, they wanted to share this beautiful music with friends and family. Please consider supporting them with your presence on Monday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m.at Third Church of Christ, Scientist – 4419 Oak Lawn Avenue. This preview concert will be less than an hour in length. You will hear a 30-minute work titled “For a Breath of Ecstasy”—a collection of poems by Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet Sara Teasdale set to music by Michael Trotta. We will also sing three anthems in Hebrew from living Jewish composers. Cantor Vicky Glikin of Temple Emanu-El will be our soloist. There is no admission fee. Please join us!

Readers will lead us through 90 minutes of scripture, anthems, and the singing of favorite carols. From a spirited African Noel to a sublime setting of The First Noel, this concert will fill your soul with the best of the season’s music. It is our gift to the community!
Each year, as a gift to our community, Third Church holds a Christmas concert followed by a cookie and cider reception. Our 2015 event will feature John Rutter’s “Gloria” and will take place on Sunday evening, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m.
Carols by Candlelight is a concert event for all ages. Children in attendance will be invited to participate in a meaningful moment that benefits the food pantry for families at Interfaith Housing Coalition. They are invited to bring a single “gift” from this list: a box of macaroni and cheese, a can of soup or vegetables, a plastic jar of Peanut Butter, a package of 100 percent fruit rolls or a plastic jar of trail mix.

The Music Committee is bringing Desiree Goyette to Dallas for a free concert on May 16th at 5:00pm. She is a Christian Scientist who is a Grammy-nominated vocalist and songwriter. She is best known for her contributions to the Garfield and Charlie Brown television shows and specials, but she has also contributed inspirational hymns to the Christian Science Hymnal Supplement.
