Casavant Freres Organ: Putting on the Finishing Touches in Quebec

Here’s a photo slideshow of what the new Casavant Freres Opus 3924 organ looked like as finishing touches were being made at the factory in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, in mid-July. A group of members from Third Church and our Musical Director and Organist, Chris Crook, and Bradley Reznicek, were invited to their workshop to see and hear the finished organ and meet the craftsmen who built it.
All of the 2,530 pipes – from the 1.5 inch ones all the way to the 20 foot pipes – along with the other parts of the organ will be disassembled, individually wrapped, labeled and placed in shipping trays and containers over the next several weeks. Everything will be loaded into one truck for its 1,800 mile journey to Dallas with an expected arrival on Sept. 11.
It will take several weeks for the installation crew from Casavant to unload, reassemble and voice the organ. We look forward to welcoming them all to Dallas and to our church.
